Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. The current president is and the controlling owner for the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is an California native, and was raised by a wealthy family. Her father Jerry Buss was a real-estate businessman who became owner of the Lakers and other sports businesses. Their relationship ended in 1972 which made her feel that she was emotionally neglected. As a 19-year-old she was able to take over the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as the General Manager. She then founded the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. She was the president at the Great Western Forum, before being elected Vice President for the Lakers. Buss along with her five brothers and sisters and their father, who owned the Lakers and ruled them until his death in 2013, inherited the ownership via the trust. They each enjoyed equal the right to vote. In 2013, Buss took control for the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is co-owner of Women of Wrestling an pro-wrestling promotional business based out of Los Angeles.
