Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. She is the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently is the president of the organization. A California native, Buss has been raised by an extremely wealthy family. Jerry Buss, her father, was an entrepreneur in real estate who eventually became the proprietor of Lakers Entertainment and Sports. When her parents broke up in 1972, she believed they had abandoned her. At the age of 19 she was able to take over management of the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as the General Manager. The team was later renamed her own Los Angeles Blades professional roller hockey team. She was president of the Great Western Forum before assuming the duties of the vice president for the Lakers. Buss along with her five brothers and sisters and their father who was the owner of the Lakers and ruled them until his death in 2013, inherited this ownership through a trust. The five siblings had the same vote rights. Buss was elected president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss runs Women of Wrestling in Los Angeles the organization which is a pro-wrestling organization.
